THE CATHOLIC INTELLECTUAL TRADITION

Wisdom Through the Lens of Catholicism

These are not “Catholic courses.” These are courses in computer science, bioethics, American history, business leadership, environmental stewardship, literature, and philosophy — taught by Catholic scholars who choose not to separate what they know from what they believe.

Where a secular university might teach ethics as opinion, our professors ground it in natural law. Where others treat literature as mere text, ours reveal the sacramental imagination of Tolkien, Chesterton, and C.S. Lewis. Where the modern world reduces the human person to data, our faculty insist on dignity, purpose, and the call to holiness.

Every Subject, Illuminated

The same disciplines you'd find at any great university — taught by scholars who bring the Catholic intellectual tradition to bear on every question.

Science, Technology & the Liberal Arts

Science, Technology & the Liberal Arts

Computer science, environmental science, the U.S. Constitution — rigorous subjects taught without compromise. The difference? Our professors see creation as intelligible, the human person as sacred, and every discipline as part of a unified pursuit of truth.

History, Literature & Ideas

History, Literature & Ideas

American political history, the genius of Tolkien and Chesterton, the wisdom of Augustine and C.S. Lewis. The same great books and great questions — but read by scholars who believe that stories, arguments, and civilizations point beyond themselves.

Ethics, Leadership & Human Life

Ethics, Leadership & Human Life

Bioethics, business leadership, the virtues, motherhood — the questions every person faces. Where secular approaches offer opinions, our faculty offer natural law, human dignity, and two thousand years of moral reasoning. The Catholic vision doesn't avoid hard questions. It answers them.

Ave Maria University campus at sunset

Ave Maria University is a Catholic liberal arts university in Southwest Florida where students study biology, nursing, business, history, computer science, politics, literature, and more — all within a community that is faithfully Catholic. The university doesn't offer a reduced curriculum. It offers the full range of disciplines, taught by scholars who believe that faith and reason illuminate every field of study.

Through The Pursuit of Wisdom, these same professors now share their expertise with the world. Each course covers a real subject at a serious level — and each is enriched by the Catholic intellectual tradition that has shaped Western civilization for two thousand years.
